Boy, it gets under my skin!!!

Yes, it's me venting again. And this time it's a pet peeve of mine that I wish were NOT a pet peeve, but for some reason it just really gets under my skin!

I cannot stand it when people make fun of scrapbooking. I tell myself they don't get it and to just ignore it. And then I don't listen to myself. I let it bug me.

It's not that I expect everyone to enjoy scrapbooking. It's not even that I want them to like MY pages. What I don't like is that they don't respect that it's a hobby I enjoy. And that they don't "get" it. I suppose I can't expect everyone to get it, but for some reason it's simply beyond me that they don't. How can you not understand the importance of a hobby that documents a person's life or history? How can you not get a person wanting to share important feelings with their loved ones? I really do not understand.

I guess to some people it's simply a waste of time and money. Or a revisiting of cutting and pasting from grade school. I guess if they don't really think about what it entails, they aren't going to get it. But for goodness sake -- if you know it's something I enjoy, keep your snide comments to yourself because I don't enjoy hearing them.

(Can you tell I'm put out?? LOL)

I have a couple of friends that insist on belittling my time spent scrapbooking and just scrapping in general. And even though I rarely see them or rarely have to hear about it....when I do it just literally drives me nuts. And at the same time, it makes me sad, because these same friends have several children and I think to myself, "Don't you think your kids would enjoy pages or journaling documenting their lives??" I'm not asking you to do it -- just think about it and respect it.

And now that I've gotten that off of my chest...how many pet peeves is a person allowed anyhow?? Because I think I may be nearing my quota! (hee hee)
