My five-year old daughter loves to do arts and crafts (or as she used to call them -- arts and craps -- LOL!). I had to share these photos because I think she does a great job for a five-year old.
The first photo is a dog -- the second a mermaid. Am I just biased, or is she pretty good for her age? I honestly have no idea, but I know my seven-year old son always struggles with drawing (like me!) and so in contrast, I think my daughter has some real potential for artistic talent. Last night she was drawing a picture and I saw her making swirly doodles around the edges to frame it. She was so proud of those doodles and I have to say, they looked really good!
Isn't it fun to see the world through your child's eyes and artwork?? I love that they get the greatest thrill from the most simple things. You just want them to hold on to that wonder and joy about the world. Right now my kids could spend hours collecting rocks and flowers (weeds, really) from our yard and be perfectly happy. My youngest loves to sit with a cheap pinwheel he has in front of our windows and let the breeze blow through and spin that pinwheel. He laughs and laughs. Ah, to be young and carefree!
On another note -- how is it May already?? (do I say that every month -- I know I do -- I can't help it!). My son will be eight in a couple of weeks, followed shortly thereafter by my youngest turning THREE already. I'm starting to get those pangs of motherly sadness. Why oh why must they grow so fast???
I haven't shared a quote in a while, so as I leave you for today, I'll share this quote about creating....
"The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Happy Hump Day!

I don't think you are baised at all, those art pieces are really commendable. Very neat...kids have such great imaginations.
You should frame it or make it a scrapbook page, just to document it.
Oh Rita she did a fabulous job! Much better than Brett and he is 6 ha ha! I love her mermaid!! Wonderful!! I think as parents it is ok to be biased! And in your defense, I don't think you are, those are amazing for a child her age!
Hugs!
Definitely beautiful artistry there! I love how she did the colors!!! Such fun! smiles...
Rita - how funny!
I just did a similar post this morning without seeing your blog of Evan's art!!
We are going to the art museum for a field trip today!
Anyway, I LOVE her vibrant colors!!
And I really agree about seeing art through our children's eyes. It's amazing sometimes.
She takes after her Mama in the creativity department. Such pretty pictures she made. Yes it May LOL!!! I think framing or scrapping them is an awesome idea!
She's done a wonderful job of drawing...and has a great eye for color too! Framing is a great idea to have her art work around you so it can make you smile....and scrapping it will let you keep it forever.
I have a painting my daughter did of a snowman with a bright blue sky behind him...it's falling apart...but I still keep it..it just makes me happy!
rita, your dd DOES have talent! those are beautiful paintings! i just love seeing what kids create. they are so carefree and don't worry about if it is "just right"...which makes it wonderful!
Those are GREAT Rita!! She did such a good job, I especially love the mermaid!!!
