Apollo has been with us eleven wonderful years. She has been the sweetest, most wonderful pet a family could hope for. As I type this, my kids do not even know what we are going to have to do and I am dreading telling them. Apollo has been a part of their ENTIRE lives. How do you tell your children their beloved pet is leaving their home for good? They are all quite attached to her – even Nicholas, at age four. I hate the thought of our home without Apollo and I know they will too.
One thing that I will always, always remember is how attached Apollo was to me right after my late term miscarriage. It may sound crazy, but I’m telling you – the dog had a sense that I was very, very sad and lonely during that time and she rarely left my side. She was such a great comfort to me and always has been. Losing her – well, I really have no words. I am having a really hard time today.
If you have a furbaby or furbabies – be sure to give them some extra love today.

I am so, so sorry, Rita. :(
Big hugs to you and the kids today.
My heart is breaking right along with you. Even though we don't have any pets, I can assure you I wouldn't know how to break it to the kids either. But sometimes we as parents think they will take it worse than they actually do. Luv and prayers from the cuzzins.
I am so sorry. Give the kids big hugs and we are thinking about you guys.
I am so very very sorry you have to face this. I know how extremely hard it is. Our fur family members have a keen sense of our feelings, I'm glad she was able to comfort you when you needed it the most.
I believe she knows how much you love her and will be at peace with the decision.
I wish I could have met her, she sounds truly amazing.
love and ((hugs))
AWWW I'm so sorry for you and the family. It breaks my heart reading about Apollo. Lots of hugs to you and the kids.
{{HUGS}} Rita. The tears are in my eyes as I type this cause we've been there. When we had to say goodbye to our cat of 16 years we came home and the three of us laid down on our bed together and cried. Thinking of you and your family at this very difficult time for you all. {{HUGS}}
sweetie, I am reading this and my heart is breaking for you. I have thought about you all day. I know you won't feel like it, but try to get you and the kids out of the house this weekend for a bit of fun and to take your mind off the sadness. ((((((HUGE HUGS)))))) for all of you...
when one of my rescue cats died last year I cried so hard that I hyperventilated. We are total animal lovers around here. this post brought tears to my eyes.We have several cats now and they really do sense what we are feeling. when I am sad,they will stop running around and all come sit around me. Its very comforting actually. They just know what to do. Animals are so smart.
I´m so very sorry sweetie. {warmest hugs}
Sending more hugs to you & the family!
You could see Apollo's sweet nature in your photos, she looked like a wonderful furbaby, I'm so sorry you had to do this, Rita. Big hugs, sweetie!
OH Rita, I am so sorry about Apollo! Hugs to you and your family. You were so lucky to have as part of your family for so long. I know she will be a much loved and missed doggie.
I am literally bawling my eyes out right now Rita.
I am SOOOO sorry. I hope that Apollo will go and play in doggy heaven with my favorite pet ever, Major, my German shepherd that my mom put down when I was about 12.
That dog was my only friend for a few years and she stayed close to me when I was lonely, just like Apollo did for you.
I will say a prayer for you and the kids.
And for me...that I can stop crying!
I am so sad.
