I realize you are all well aware of the fact that time flies. But today I'm reminding you so maybe you'll take a little break from the craziness of the day and enjoy some quiet moments.
This morning, as my seven-year old son was leaving for school, I was marveling at how big he's gotten. Seven years old and he is so tall -- the top of his head is at the top of my shoulder already! Granted, I'm short -- about 5'4" -- but my goodness he's getting big. It's hard to believe that not so long ago, he was a toddler. Not anymore.
Later, as I was getting my two-year old out of his crib, I realized how big he's getting too. I asked him if he would stay little for me -- he said yes. (The child says yes to most every question I ask, but that's okay -- I'll take it!) Then, as if he sensed I was feeling a little bit sad about my children growing up, he hugged me as tight as he could and let me hold him and rock him for a good four or five minutes. He's been very lovey this morning -- and I am eating it up!
So today is one of those days when I feel the need to just enjoy the moments. Yesterday was hectic -- tomorrow is going to be hectic. Today, could be hectic if I let it be -- but I think I may just not worry too much today about cleaning and what not. I'm going to enjoy my kids and let the other stuff go (a little bit anyway). Because really -- time DOES fly and these moments will be gone before I know it.
Why don't you do the same?? Take some time today to just enjoy your family -- your pets -- your friends. Don't worry too much about all the "stuff" that's always going to be there. It's not going anywhere.
So have a happy, happy Friday -- and enjoy the weekend!

Feeling a little stiffled today...
Did I say something about being a better blogger (wow that's a tongue twister!) in my last post?? Twelve days ago -- oops! Gotta work on that!
I would like to start this post by saying I LOVE being a mom. And I love being a stay-at-home mom. My life revolves around my family -- my children in particular. And while I love it, I'm afraid maybe I've lost sight of some of the things that are important to me and the person I am.
With young children I think it is so easy for most mothers to get caught up in the "busyness" of what needs to happen every single day. Not only around the house, but the running to this activity or that. I have tried really hard not to "overschedule" us, but regardless, life is very busy. And that's fine. But I am horrible at finding time for myself and I know it has taken a toll.
Some days I don't notice it much -- other days I do. Today is one of those days. Last night was a restless night, so that doesn't help, but today I am just feeling that need to renew & re-energize. I feel the need for some inspiration and the time to act on it. And I'm not quite sure how to go about getting it.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm becoming one of those people who will be lost when my kids are grown. Will I know what to do with myself? Will I be ready to go back to work or will I even know what direction I'm headed? I like to think I will -- but really, I wonder.
Focus and balance. I need to work on both. And I also need to figure out how to get the quiet time to clear my head so I can begin to focus. I feel like there is a lot of "noise" in my life. And as an only child who values peace and quiet...noise makes me a bit wacky after a while.
Please don't take this as me complaining either. I don't mean to -- just feeling spent today I guess.
I'm hoping each of you has the time you need to recharge your batteries. I believe it's so very important.
Enjoy your day!

Still sticking around...
Alright, I guess you are stuck with me! I'm going to work harder at being a better blogger. I guess I'm not ready to give it up altogether yet! (And thanks to those of you who encouraged me to keep it up! :) )
This week, I've been thinking about some decisions I need to make. It made me realize how hard I try to please everyone. And you know what? It just can't be done. I can't make everyone happy. And I'm not sure why that's hard for me to accept. But it is.
I know one decision I've made will disappoint my mom. I won't go into details for fear of boring you. But I will say the thought of upsetting my mom gives me HUGE knots in my stomach. Huge. 37 years old and I can't stand the thought of my mother's disapproval. I guess that's normal -- isn't it? I don't know. Logically, I can tell myself that my mom and I are not going to agree on everything. But when I know I'm disappointing her, it makes me feel terrible.
I hope my children will always value my opinion, but I also hope as they grow, I will be able to let them make their own choices even if I disagree with them. I hope I will be able to be supportive and understanding. Being a parent is so hard when it comes to protecting and letting go. So is being a child I guess, no matter how old you are.
It looks like Blogger is going to freeze up on me, so I am going to cut this short and see if I can publish it. I'll be back soon -- I hope!

To blog or not to blog...that is STILL the question!
First things first -- Happy New Year! 2007 -- wow! I can hardly believe it. But I think I say that every year now that I'm older!
I still cannot decide if I want to keep on doing this blog thing. I think I'll give it this week -- see if I get around to updating it much and if my blogging spirit returns! :)
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and are ready for a new year!
