Yesterday after church we made a short trip to Borders bookstore. My husband had another errand to run and so he dropped the kids and me off with the words, "Promise me you won't buy anything." To which I simply had to reply "I'll TRY not to buy anything." The bookstore is worse than Target for me -- I could probably bankrupt us buying books -- especially for the kids. I can always find books I would love to have in our collection. My hubby constantly says, "The kids have enough books!" After 12 years of marriage you would think he would have figured out that I do not believe in such an absurd idea -- ENOUGH books -- ha! Not even possible! Somehow I did manage to get out of there without spending a penny. However, I fully intend to remedy that situation by making my own trip back to Borders this week. Not only did I get many Christmas ideas from the kids, but I also had a completely nostalgic moment and I need to go back and buy the book pictured above.
Please tell me somebody remembers the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books....oh my goodness I LOVED these books when I was younger. I read them when I was maybe eight or nine and I have not seen them or thought about them in ages. When I saw a collection of three Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books at Borders yesterday, I almost cried I was so excited. It gave me such a rush of memories of going to the library as a child -- of reading at my grandparents house -- of how much I loved getting new books through my Scholastic book order forms at school. It sounds crazy, but seeing these books just gave me a rush of memories that really made me sentimental. I must get this book for our collection. (When my husband isn't with me....hee hee....) They are chapter books I would love to read with and to my kids.
We are also addicted to these wonderful children's books at our house right now...stories about Pigeon by Mo Willems. My four-year old especially adores these stories -- we read them multiple times a day. This link will lead you to all Mo Willems books -- Pigeon is our favorite and I would highly recommend them if you have little kids. They are hilarious and so much fun! My older kids and I like them just as much as my little guy.Moving on to adult books -- I have just finished The Thirteenth Tale and am trying to decide what to read next. I'm kind of in the mood for a quick read because this book took me about a month to read. I really enjoyed it, but for some reason it seemed to take me forever to get through it. Any suggestions for a wonderful book -- one you couldn't put down???
I am SO behind on blog hopping lately -- I have been trying to get through some projects at home, plus life is just crazy busy right now with sports/activities. But I try to visit you all at least once or twice a week and hope to catch up with you very soon.
Happy Monday -- have a great week!

I just read a book called Mrs. Perfect and cannot remember the author off hand but it was on my Good Reads list. Anyway, it was much better than I expected and really had a good message overall, but was technically a light read IMO. :)
And I ALWAYS get into trouble at the book store. I totally agree! You can never have enough books. Especially children's books :)
"Enough books" - this does not compute. I can't even make those words go together in my head as a sentence - it's complete nonsense!!
I don't know if it's a quick read or not, but my friends at B&N were highly recommending The Shack (http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=0964729237) It's on my list to read.
The bookstore is taboo for us too. Although it is a good taboo. If books didn't have to take up so much space it would be great!!! I have tried to remedy that with going to the library--problem is that the books somehow get lost amongst our library of books and I have to end up paying late fees anyway:)
My craft fair is October 18th.
Rita,
I love my friends who love books!
We need to start a book club for kids lit...everyone brings 5 of their children's fav's...wouldn't that be fun!
I love childrens books..when my kids bring those book order things home from school I always buy a bunch. My hubby says the same thing, that they have enough books...but your right, books are something one can never have enough of!!!
I have to absolutely agree...there is no such thing as too many books. DH and I joke that the book piles will someday kill us in our elderly years as they topple over on us. :o) smiles...
Hi Rita. No books..you left without buying? IT happens every now and then...it's ok. I am sure you will make up for it later.
What a good girl not buying anything, at that time! LOL I always make my "own" field trips back alone too! Thank you also for the names of good series for the boys! I look try to find them!
Love the field trip story too! Been there done that! What I hate most is the moms who send "jolt" and "red bull" for their boys to drink on field trips?? They would never let them drink that if they were at home with them all day! LOL
