I.NEED.COFFEE!!!!!

I am Catholic -- it is Lent -- and I decided to give up something that would be really difficult. And I chose coffee. And guess what? It is in fact -- REALLY difficult some days!

I know that sounds absolutely ridiculous, but this morning I am sooooo tired and you have no idea how badly I am craving a cup (or three!) of coffee.

I had a total moment this morning where it was like I had a little angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other, just like in the movies. The "devil" saying, "C'mon -- you can give in just one day...39 days of no coffee is almost as good as 40 days." The angel then reminding me that I've made it four weeks without caving in -- why ruin it now? Only about two and a half weeks to go -- that's not too bad, right?

I did not cave in (yet) -- and I don't plan to -- but you have no idea how tempting it is. And I have a brand spanking new coffee pot just sitting on my counter looking pretty and begging to be used. It's calling my name. Somebody make it stop!

I know you are now thinking my lack of caffeine is affecting my mental health -- it is quite possible, that this is the case. And any illusions I had that maybe these 40 days of no coffee would make me give it up for good -- ha! I don't think so!

So as I leave you, I implore you -- if you are a coffee drinker -- enjoy a cup for me today. Just don't come back and tell me how good it was!

I am not a coffee drinker but feel the exact same way about chocolate and two lents ago, I gave up chocolate. It was one of the hardest things I ever gave up and I had the biggest chocolate binge when Easter came :0)
This year I didn't give up anything because I am still getting up at least once or twice a night with Erin.
As much as I love my baby girl, severe sleep deprivation is a big enough sacrifice this year I think ;0)

Oh my Rita!!! You are going straight to Heaven for that.I tried to give up my soda one year and I think I did ok, but I caved in the day I got HUGE HEADACHE and I just couldnt do it. Yeah, I didnt give anything up this year either, I thought my husband for a year with only a 2 week break was a huge sacrifice. I hope that is not considered cheating.
Keep up the good work, YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!!

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'll think caffeinated thoughts for you. I can sympathize - I gave up chocolate (in all forms) last year, and it about killed me!! Hang in there, girl - you can do it!!

Good for you... you CAN do it!!! I'm proud of you...I know how hard it is.
One of our radio personalities gave up desserts but because of the amount of days (40) not including Sundays she allows herself dessert on Sunday. I'll have to listen better to understand exactly how she justifies it.
I'm on my third week with no Diet Coke! I did have a Vernors today, regular, not diet as I'm trying to avoid the fake sugars...but feeling icky I needed the ginger. It worked and calmed my tummy...but I digress!
Good luck!!! You really don't have much time left...let's get together for a coffee/cappuccino as soon as the ban is lifted! LOL We'll have a cyber cup together!
Hang in there.

I used to try and do this long...long ago just to see if I can access any control over my brain, It was very rewarding in some ways...
All the best, you have hardly any time left. You can do it, don't give up you have come so far...

I bought a Dunkin Donuts gift card last night, and will use it in your honor. May I suggest an O'Fribble as a substitute (ask Jeanne :)

Girlie if I can't give up my smokes, you can do without the coffee. I know it isn't easy, but when the urge for that sip happens, find something to do, or go put some water in that coffee mug, and sip away like it's a nice steaming mug of java.

I'm sending you lots of will power, because you are stronger then you think you are, and you will be able to do this. I know you can!
